Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0
Well, I've downloaded version 1.1.1 of the plugin, but still no joy. The symptoms are the same as I described in posts #106, #108, and #110 of this thread: SqueezeScrobbler shows up in the Extras tab, but not the Advanced tab, and no clues in the log. When it is working, where should Last.FM show up? I presume under the Internet Radio menu, but I've also looked under the Music Services menu. On the weekend I'll try to get it running on one of my Windows or Ubuntu system to see if it's something peculiar to my LinkStation. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0
Nope, nothing showing up in the log (ie, nothing to do with scrobbling, or any plugins except for some harmless messages re LazySearch2). Note that I have the new built-in audioscrobbler enabled, and it is scrobbling my tracks to last.fm. Could that be creating a conflict? If I want to turn up the logging for SqueezeScrobbler errors, what should I set in SC7? I already restarted SC7 adding --d_plugins on the command line, but I think I read elsewhere that with SC7 the proper way to do it is via the Logging settings on the Advanced tab. Finally, I think I forgot to mention that while there is a LastFM / SqueezeScrobbler entry on the Extras tab, it only has an Enable/Disable button, and no button for Settings. Thanks for your help. There's no problem having both plugins installed. You could try setting server.plugins logging to debug, and check the box for 'save logging settings', then restart SlimServer. It seems like the problem is that SlimServer is aware the plugin has been installed, but is not loading it correctly. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0
I don't know really. I'll wait and see what the official LastFM plugin can/can't do. LastFM have never published any specs for the new radio service so it will be interesting to see what is considered 'official' features and whether there is any value in adding 'unofficial' services to that. I took a look at the new AudioScrobbler plugin - it's *so* much cleaner than SlimScrobbler, but that's the benefit of starting from scratch! I think the tracking code is a bit simplistic though - for example it seems to me that if you start a track and then immediately pause it, it would still get submitted at the time limit, though you've not actually listened to it. Having said that, it would be nice if the new plugin published a 'track played' event so that other plugins (i.e. TrackStat and iTunesUpdate) could use it. That's not true, it will only scrobble once you have listened to the required 50% or 240 seconds of a track. It then schedules the scrobble to occur in another 50% or 240 seconds. It does not technically wait until the end of a track in all cases because it is quite complicated to know when a track is finished, as I'm sure you found out. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0
Well it seems my problems were down to one particular build of Squeezecenter - after upgrading Last.FM is being recognised properly and i can access the config pages and it's in the internet radio menu of my SB3. However, it wont actually play/connect to the stream and i just get a genral error message. Anything i should be looking at here? James would know this much better than me, but due to black magic it was not sufficient for me to delete the 'plugin-data.yaml' file. What worked for me was: 0. Make sure the plugin is installed in the correct directory. 1. Shut down slimserver, and be sure its dead. 2. Delete the entire contents of the cache-directory, where cache-directory is the directory containing among other things the FileCache directory. 3. Start slimserver and rescan. One more thought - Love and Ban seem to be working fine, but there is no visual feedback on the player when I select either of them. That's fine for Ban, because the track changes, but with Love, it's difficult to tell if I've actually done anything. When you click right, would it be possible to get some kind of equivilent to the old update sent to Last.fm message? Although, thinking about it, I guess it's fine so long as you know that's the way the plugin now works, and a move to another screen might be just as annoying.
