Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

2007-12-11 Thread aubuti

Well, I've downloaded version 1.1.1 of the plugin, but still no joy. The
symptoms are the same as I described in posts #106, #108, and #110 of
this thread: SqueezeScrobbler shows up in the Extras tab, but not the
Advanced tab, and no clues in the log. When it is working, where should
Last.FM show up? I presume under the Internet Radio menu, but I've also
looked under the Music Services menu.

On the weekend I'll try to get it running on one of my Windows or
Ubuntu system to see if it's something peculiar to my LinkStation.
Thanks for your efforts.

Hello

I managed to download the latest version after trying a dozen sf.net

However, I have one problem ; my squeezebox gives me the message:

Any help is very much appriciated, I cried my heart out when pandora

Cheers mate

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

2007-12-09 Thread aubuti

Nope, nothing showing up in the log (ie, nothing to do with scrobbling,
or any plugins except for some harmless messages re LazySearch2). Note
that I have the new built-in audioscrobbler enabled, and it is
scrobbling my tracks to last.fm. Could that be creating a conflict?

If I want to turn up the logging for SqueezeScrobbler errors, what
should I set in SC7? I already restarted SC7 adding --d_plugins on the
command line, but I think I read elsewhere that with SC7 the proper way
to do it is via the Logging settings on the Advanced tab. Finally, I
think I forgot to mention that while there is a LastFM /
SqueezeScrobbler entry on the Extras tab, it only has an
Enable/Disable button, and no button for Settings.

Thanks for your help. And your plugin!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

There's no problem having both plugins installed.

You could try setting server.plugins logging to debug, and check the
box for 'save logging settings', then restart SlimServer.

It seems like the problem is that SlimServer is aware the plugin has
been installed, but is not loading it correctly.

I just updated to the Dec 7 nightly, and installed SqueezeScrobbler
v1.1.0 from sourceforge. Last FM / SqueezeScrobbler shows up as
enabled on the Extras tab in SC settings, but doesn't show up at all on
the Advanced tab, which is where I would expect to input last.fm

Scrobbling support is built in, LastFM radio is not (yet).

2007-10-27 Thread James

I don't know really.
I'll wait and see what the official LastFM plugin can/can't do. LastFM
have never published any specs for the new radio service so it will be
interesting to see what is considered 'official' features and whether
there is any value in adding 'unofficial' services to that.

I took a look at the new AudioScrobbler plugin - it's *so* much cleaner
than SlimScrobbler, but that's the benefit of starting from scratch!
I think the tracking code is a bit simplistic though - for example it
seems to me that if you start a track and then immediately pause it, it
would still get submitted at the time limit, though you've not actually
listened to it.

Having said that, it would be nice if the new plugin published a 'track
played' event so that other plugins (i.e. TrackStat and iTunesUpdate)
could use it.

Seems a little redundant now, but I've just loaded v1.0.6 to

This adds true cli radio support to LastFM for playing/changing

I agree, a track played event would be great, but if it should be

I'm not sure I like it tied to the AudioScrobbler plugin though,

There's two audioscrobbler plugins now - do they work in harmony together? I

I guess there will be an official LastFM plugin coming too? If so, will

If you want to listen to LastFM radio you still need the
SqueezeScrobbler plugin until the official one is released.

Once you enter your login in the new AudioScrobbler plugin it will
start scrobbling tracks, so you'll probably want to disable that from
the old plugin.

That's not true, it will only scrobble once you have listened to the
required 50% or 240 seconds of a track. It then schedules the scrobble
to occur in another 50% or 240 seconds. It does not technically wait
until the end of a track in all cases because it is quite complicated
to know when a track is finished, as I'm sure you found out. But this
is OK, there is no requirement to wait until the track is finished to
submit, as long as you've listened to half of it it will get scrobbled.

in particular I didn't add exclude genres because I'm not entirely
convinced it's needed. You can setup multiple accounts and select

Andy, also very glad see that you are also going to support multiple

a plea for an easy and quick way to change Last.fm users (normally
mid-song in my case) via the remote, as with James' version. Prevents
a lot of mis-scrobbling. Also good to have that ability via the web
 interface(s) too.

Hmm currently this is only selected in the web UI.

Re: genre tags, do you mean the option to scrobble music to Last.fm,
but not submit your genre tags to them? I use this functionality and
would like to see the option extended into an official plugin. I use
multiple genres and some of them are quite descriptive (Sunday Morning
Housework music, for example) and I don't want that being submitted to
Last.fm. It's not so much that I don't want it polluting my account,
but I don't want it polluting the Last.fm database! If it's not a
hassle to support it - could it be included?

There are 2 different things related to genre tags right? One is
submitting them as Last.fm tags, which I don't think is supported in
version 1.2 of the API:
http://www.audioscrobbler.net/development/protocol/

The other is skipping scrobbling for certain genres entered in a text
field. Isn't the whole purpose of Last.fm to submit everything so you
can see what your listening habits are? If you exclude something you
won't get the right results. :)

Finally, whilst we're waiting for this official plugin, let me be the
first to say a massive thank you to James for all the work on
SlimScrobbler, without which this official version might not have got
 off the ground.

Absolutely, SlimScrobbler has been around for a while and is not
hampered by silly things like business agreements and marketing guys.

First of these is the thing I was referring to - if it's not supported,
not a worry from my perspective. Agree with you on the second as well.

In particular I'm interested in the genre submitting feature which will

I wanted to let you guys know that for SC7 we are including an official
Last.fm plugin. Currently we only have an Audioscrobbler plugin, but
we will be adding a radio plugin as soon as we get some documention.

My version does not include all of the same features as SlimScrobbler,
in particular I didn't add exclude genres because I'm not entirely
convinced it's needed. You can setup multiple accounts and select
which player scrobbles to which account. I would think this should be
enough to keep the kids' music from being scrobbled on your account. :)

Well it seems my problems were down to one particular build of

and i can access the config pages and it's in the internet radio menu

However, it wont actually play/connect to the stream and i just get a
genral error message. Anything i should be looking at here?

James would know this much better than me, but due to black magic it was
not sufficient for me to delete the 'plugin-data.yaml' file. What worked
for me was:

0. Make sure the plugin is installed in the correct directory.
1. Shut down slimserver, and be sure its dead.
2. Delete the entire contents of the cache-directory, where
cache-directory is the directory containing among other things the
FileCache directory.
3. Start slimserver and rescan.

Maybe thats what you already tried ?

In my experience you may need to stop Squeezecenter, a reboot doesn't
harm either, then delete the cache and the temp file that the scrobbler
plugin writes to (its not in the SC directory - you need to search for
*pending* or your last.fm name), then start SC.

I am finding that when I attempt to play a LastFM station and then
minimise the WebUI (IE7.0), the minimised window keeps restoring itself
on each page refresh. I have only noticed this with LastFM.

Does this seem to be a plugin issue or is it just problems at LastFM's

Guessing this is a LastFM problem, although that log is all Scrobbler
logging not LastFM, apart from the last two lines. (You can set the
Scrobbler log level independently of the LastFM logging which makes it
a lot easier to find problems.)

Phil's stack track is interesting, I've not seen this myself but I
would guess it's caused by LastFM problems again. I'll put some more
protection in that bit of the code.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

2007-10-05 Thread Siduhe

One more thought - Love and Ban seem to be working fine, but there is no
visual feedback on the player when I select either of them. That's fine
for Ban, because the track changes, but with Love, it's difficult to
tell if I've actually done anything.

When you click right, would it be possible to get some kind of
equivilent to the old update sent to Last.fm message?

Although, thinking about it, I guess it's fine so long as you know
that's the way the plugin now works, and a move to another screen might
be just as annoying.

Ok, I'm talking myself out of this idea, but will post anyway in case
others have a view!

James - great it now remembers my settings!!!

However LastFM is not working properly, no sound comes out and it keeps
changing tracks every 5 secs.

Also it doesn't appear to be scroblling local music.

These could both be LastFM issues, I will keep testing and get back to
you.

Scrobbling still not submitting but I strongly suspect this is a LastFM

Rather than refreshing the page, try resizing it (from max to sized and
back). This seems to force the save button to appear and should allow
you to save, even in the new Default skin. As James says, this seems
to be an SC issue not a Last.fm plugin one, I have seen a similar issue
on other setting pages (again the Default pages). It's easier to switch
to classic though!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

2007-10-03 Thread smc2911

Hi James,
As a very small first step, here's a minor tweak for Lastfm.pm for
usertag radio. I'm not promising anything significant at this stage,
but if I can I'd like to help...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

2007-10-02 Thread James

Hi Matt, seems like you've solved the missing strings. You could see in
the log file that SlimServer wasn't loading the strings.txt file from
SqueezeScrobbler (look for Loading String File).

The missing web page I don't know. It could be an artifact of starting
with the plugin in the wrong place. Try stopping SlimServer and
clearing up your cache directory (keeping the MySQL dir depending on
how large your database is!)

Thanks James.

One question, as this seems to have changed in SqueezeCenter: where is
the cache located? I am running Windows Vista...

Cheers

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

2007-10-02 Thread matthijskoopmans

Hi James,

After some searching, I found that in vista, the directory can be found
at c:\ProgramData\SlimServer. ProgramData is a hidden directory.

Clearing the cache has solved the settings issue. I now have full
settings with labels. However, after configuring, the scrobbling still
does not seem to work.

Again, I have attached the log-file.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

2007-10-02 Thread James

It looks like your SlimServer cannot connect to the internet sometimes.
There are messages in the log that both audioscrobbler.com and
squeezenetwork.com cannot be connected to. Possibly a Vista/firewall
issue?

There also seems to be a LastFM password issue - probably worth
entering it again.

I'll check out the player menu - must admit I did not check that...

That is strange!
Can you check you have file strings.txt in Plugins/SqueezeScrobbler? If
so please check the server log file for any string related errors.

I'll see if I can recreate the problem.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

2007-10-01 Thread vrobin

I've met the same problem... installed, set login/pass, restarted...
there was a setting menu but no lasFM menu.

I restarted, nothing changed. Switched to fishbone... and it appeared.
Switched back to default... nothing... refreshed... there it was in
default skin.

Now it's in both skins, there is no problem. It could be both a problem
with the cache (browser, SC...) or with my eye (didn't really know where
to find the menu so I could have missed it).

Anyway, no it's on and it's terrible! Much cleaner than the old 6.5
version (I don't know why, but the 6.5 I add never worked cleanly: long
pauses, strange behaviour, tune url only on even days, etc.)

Hi James,

Yes I have the strings.txt (I have attached it). The log file is rather
large. I did not know where to look, so I attached the entire file.

Thanks for making this plugin. It is a Beta for a Beta, so no worries,
it is expected that things don't work for everyone at delivery. I hope
it is not a user error, so your time spent is worth it for all... :)

Cheers

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

2007-10-01 Thread matthijskoopmans

I am making some progress. When unpacking the zip file with the plugin,
it actually placed it in SqueezeScrobbler_v1.0/SqueezeScrobbler (as sub
of Plugins). I have moved the SqueezeScrobbler now directly into the
plugins directory (../plugins/SqueezeScrobbler), and see the
LastFM/SqueezeScrobbler label in the Extras menu.

However, I do not see the plugin settings. When clicking settings, the
following error message is displayed: 404 Not Found:
plugins/SqueezeScrobbler/settings/basic.html

I do have this subdirectory under ../SqueezeScrobbler/HTML/EN/...

Any ideas?

Cheers

Matt
