Funny to read in this context ... ;-) Maybe Bostrom will sit down and meditate and find out about the missing aspects of his theory? According to his current culturally biased world view it can only be some AGI/Alien running a virtual reality on a 5-bazillion CPU mainframe ... it can't possibly be "just" an evolutionary process working on primordial consciousness that came up with quantum mechanics and this virtual reality as a way to facilitate consciousness evolution.
The fun thing is that we have no problem accepting that our "phsyical evolution" turned rocks into beautiful girls who stream World of Warcraft games (another layer of primitive virtual reality) on http://www.twitch.tv ... ;-) Once you realize the "magic" behind this process it becomes very easy to see how a more fundamental evolutionary process might have turned primordial consciousness into a high fidelity virtual reality ...
