I have a little war going on between the users who give me a 1 because they don't know how to use the product (it's niche and you have to know the field to use it) and the pro's who will give it a 5 in retaliation. Kinda funny and I wind up with a 4 overall. I made demo videos and am still waiting ... for the Market to post the links to them! Some folks actually get their first smartphone and the app at the same time leading to a disaster since they need to know a bit how to use the phone or tablet first before diving into the app. Fortunately rather than giving me a 1 over that they contact me by the support email with is right on the splash page. The most common problem is they don't know that Menu will bring up a program menu too.

I do notice there has been a slowdown in sales since the 15 minute return policy.

My point being that the more developers try to accommodate users by doing
out-of-policy refunds and other actions, the more users expect it from

stick to the written rules of market.

Getting a few 1*'s may not be nice, but there will always be jerks out there who do
things like that just because Markets' policies are what they want them to be, you don't
do what they want you to, and they feel their views are more important than anything
else, and if you need an example of this my app, which averages 4.5* after 300+ ratings
recently got a 2* with a comment "Does not do what I want", which is realy
helpful :).

My view; If it's bought through market then markets refund policies apply. If
the user doesn't like it then tell them to talk to Google.

Again, I would agree with that in principle, but in practice Google doesn't
suffer from 1* negative comments - we do.
