A cheap netbook and a v-link might be be a very acceptable solution for many people. You could use a player on the netbook to play directly; you could put a UPnP renderer on it and stream to it from a UPnP server; you could put Squeezeplay on it and turn it into a Touch replacement. Very versatile.
