To do something regarding this, the minimum would be that we can agree
on:
1.
Do we want to have a "My Music/Artists" menu, in this case which
artists, album artists, bands, composers, conductors should be shown in
it ?
2.
Do we want to have a "My Music/All Artists" menu, in this case which
artists, album artists, bands, composers, conductors should be shown in
it ?
3.
Do we want to have a "My Music/Album Artists" menu, in this case which
artists, album artists, bands, composers, conductors should be shown in
it ?
4.
If we want to have a "My Music/Artists" menu, which albums should be
played if a user hits "+/More" on an artist and select "Play" ?
Would it be the same as if you hit play button directly on the artist ?
5.
If we want to have a "My Music/All Artists" menu, which albums should be
played if a user hits "+/More" on an artist and select "Play" ?
Would it be the same as if you hit play button directly on the artist ?
6.
If we want to have a "My Music/Album Artists" menu, which albums should
be played if a user hits "+/More" on an artist and select "Play" ?
Would it be the same as if you hit play button directly on the artist ?
7.
I'm guessing we want to keep the separate "Album Artist", "Artist"
entries shown when a user hits "+/More" on a track ?
8.
Which artists, album artists, bands, composers, conductors should be
shown when browsing into a genre under "My Music/Genres" ?
9.
Which albums should be shown when browsing into an artist under a genre
in "My Music/Genres" menu ?
All albums which the artist has contributed on or only albums where the
artist is album artist ?
10.
If we want a "My Music/Album Artists" menu should it also have a
generated "Various Artists" or "No Album Artists" entry so the user can
find all albums under "My Music/Album Artists" menu ?
Basically, should we automatically detect compilations during scanning
or can we rely on the user setting "ALBUMARTIST=Various Artists" in the
tag if he/she wants to find the album under "My Music/Album Artists"
menu ?
11.
Which settings in "LMS Settings/My Music" still makes sense after the
change ?
Can we remove some ?
Which menus do they affect ?
There are probably more cases that needs to be defined also but the
above is a start.
If we can define how we want to user interface to work in the above
scenarios this would be a good start for someone to start implementing
the change. It might be good to keep in mind that the next phase of this
would be to add a "My Music/Composers" menu so we should define a
solution so it later can be extended to more specific menus.
