Hi,

my 98 328is just had its check engine light pop up (again)
and was wondering if anyone had any
recommendations/warnings about shops in the Roswell or
Alpharetta Georgia area. I've taken it to United BMW in
the past, but was wondering if there are better options
available.

If anyone knows of an easy was to grab the codes for myself
(and a way to interpret these codes!), that would also be
spiffy!

Kinda annoyed that this is the 2nd check engine light in
the ~7 months I've had this car. Only ever had one
mechanical problem with my `97 XK8 convertible (which I
would still own if I thought I could realistically afford
it - dang dot-com bubble burst!).

TIA,

Matt

You might try the MyE28.com message board:

I know Layton, for one, posts on there fairly

well....at last i can contribute something to the digest.

item is a battery discharger, rather than a charger. packaged with laptop
computers to allow for deep discharging of the battery and to prevent "nicad

had one several years ago with an early notebook pc.

hope this helps!

Can anyone help with these two problems - 1) where is the wiper relay on a
98 528i - wipers just stopped I suspect a wiper relay ( as in my old E30)
but can't find it. (2) more serious - after running on the highway for 1/2
hour or so then gettting off and just idling, the heat gauge goes up to the
red zone - if I rev to about 2k rpms, it goes back to normal and is ok.
This may happen a few more times during the day but always goes back to
normal temp - just can't idle. Today, the weather was cooler had the heater
on and I noticed at a traffic light the air from the heater became cooler
(gauge normal) then when I started moving again the heat returned - any
clues? - water pump?
                                                     TIA, Nick

if you have some air trapped in the cooling system you can get weird
situations like this.. have you tried bleeding it?

It looks like something designed to drain a battery pack... the LED shows
when the pack is drained, and the pouch holds the battery against the
doohickey.

Or maybe it's an indicator so you can tell if the battery is charged... if
you carry multiple batteries (like a cameraman maybe?) you'd need to be
able to tell which are fresh and which are flat...

Bill,
You just need normal metric socket set stuff and allen wrenches. Remember to
remove the allen screw holding the rotor on the hub, then give it a hit or 3
with a mallet to knock the rotor free of the hub. Need a coat hanger to hold
up the caliper while you replace the rotor. C-clamp works fine for pushing
the piston back in. It's recommended to open the bleed screw a little while
using back the piston, so the old fluid goes out rather than back into the
system(bad for ABS). Then bleed the brakes when done. Can do manually or get
a vacuum bleeder like Mityvac($25). Pretty easy.

  EXPLANATIONS
Filing of Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Case:
A bankruptcy case under Chapter 11 of the
Bankruptcy Code (Title 11, United States Code)
has been filed in this court by or against the
debtor listed on the front side, and an order
for relief has been entered. Chapter 11 allows
a debtor to reorganize or liquidate pursuant to
a plan. A plan is not effective unless
confirmed by the court. You may be sent a copy
of the plan and a disclosure statement telling
you about the plan, and you might have the
opportunity to vote on the plan. You will be
sent notice of the date of the confirmation
hearing, and you may object to confirmation of
the plan and attend the confirmation hearing.
Unless a trustee is serving, the debtor will
remain in possession of the debtors property
and may continue to operate any business.

Creditors May Not Take Certain Actions:
Prohibited collection actions are listed in
Bankruptcy Code 362. Common examples of
prohibited actions include contacting the debtor
by telephone, mail, or otherwise to demand
repayment; taking actions to collect money or
obtain property from the debtor; repossessing
the debtors property; starting or continuing
  lawsuits or foreclosures.

  Meeting of Creditors:
A meeting of creditors is scheduled for the
date, time and location listed on the front
side. The debtor or debtors representative
must be present at the meeting to be questioned
under oath by the trustee and by creditors.
Creditors are welcome to attend, but are not
required to do so. At the meeting, the creditors
may elect a trustee other than the one named on
this notice, examine the debtor, and transact
such other business as may properly come before
the meeting. The meeting may be continued and
concluded at a later date without further notice.

FAILURE OF THE DEBTOR OR HIS ATTORNEY TO APPEAR
AT THE SECTION 341(a) MEETING OR TO TIMELY FILE
SCHEDULES AND STATEMENT OF AFFAIRS MAY RESULT IN
DISMISSAL, DENIAL OF THE DEBTORS DISCHARGE, OR
  OTHER APPROPRIATE RELIEF.

  Claims:
A proof of claim is a signed statement describing
a creditors claim. If a proof of claim is not
included with this notice, you can obtain one at
any bankruptcy clerks office. You may look at
the schedules that have been or will be filed at
the bankruptcy clerks office. If your claim is
scheduled and is not listed as disputed,
contingent, or unliquidated, it will be allowed
in the amount scheduled unless you file a Proof
of Claim or you are sent further notice about
the claim. Whether or not your claim is
scheduled, you are permitted to file a Proof of
Claim. If your claim is not listed at all or if
your claim is listed as disputed, contingent, or
unliquidated, then you must file a Proof of Claim,
or you might not be paid any money on your claim
against the debtor in the bankruptcy case. The
court has set March 17, 2004 as the deadline to
file a Proof of Claim if you are not a
governmental entity. The court has set May 11,
2004 as the deadline to a Proof of Claim if you
are a governmental entity. Pursuant to Local
Rule 3002(a)&(b) proof of claim or proof of
interest shall be filed in duplicate, complete
with attachments. A copy with attachments shall
be served on the debtors attorney.

  Discharge of Debts:
Confirmation of a chapter 11 plan may result in
a discharge of debts, which may include all or
part of your debt. See Bankruptcy Code 1141(d).
A discharge means that you may never try to
collect the debt from the debtor, except as
  provided in the plan.

Any proof of claim should be filed at the
  following address:
  Warranty Gold Reorganization
  P. O. Box 2227
  Austin, Texas 78768-2227

A motion or other pleading (other than an
objection or response to the 11/12/03 rejection
order) should be filed at the following address:

  U.S. Bankruptcy Court
  903 San Jacinto, suite 322
  Austin, TX 78701

You may inspect all papers filed, including the

Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

All,

I'm changing the oil on my 99 M3 today, and when I
went to put in the Lubro Moly Motor Clean, I noticed
some kind of yellow goo on the inside of the filler
cap. It wasn't hardened, as it came off when wiped.

Any ideas what this could be? I'll see what the oil
looks like when it comes out.

Thanks,

Neil
