Well, I may as well add another 2 cents. I just bought 215/55R16 Green
Diamond Inari snows for my ti for this winter. They are actually a
remoulded tire made in Sweden, very popular there and in very cold climates.
Mine were molded on Michelin MXV3a casings and look really good. they have
a fairly aggressive snow tread with lots of sipping, of course they also
have carbide crystals molded in throughout the tread compound for ice.

I have had Green Diamonds on my truck for over a year and I am very pleased
with them in all conditions, especially snow and ice. I have tried Blizzaks
on my Buick Roadmaster(wear way too fast...flat disappear in warm weather
which can happen in winter here..., very squishy on the road, decent
traction in winter). I have also had Yokohama Guardex's on my old Toyota
4Runner( wear much better than Blizzaks, better road feel than Blizzaks, and
better winter traction than Blizzaks). The Green Diamonds work like a
regular tire in most conditions, but really shine on ice.

I had not planned on switching this fall, but one of my rear 225/50HR16
Dunlop M2 WinterSports got a pretty bad 2 inch cut that went through and
edge cap belt on the tread. they were getting there for a winter tire
anyway, but I was going to do it next season. So I have the other one with
about 4-5/32nds left on it if anybody needs to fill out a set. I also have
two 205/55HR16 M2's that have a bunch of tread left, at least 8-9/32nds,
that are up for sale. Any guess on value?

I will answer any questions about my tires and am willing to accept all
chastisement too. I have no financial interest in any of the tires, just
know what I like.

Sorry...Forgot to say that I was really happy with the M2's on everything
except glare ice. They are more like a high-performance all-season that
actually works in snow...great tires!!!

That is strange David. I took my Yoko Guardex's off and GAVE them away
after only 250 miles of use. I will agree that they are better in the dry,
but that is not why I buy a SNOW/ICE tire. Back to back comparisons with the
Blizzaks vs. Guardex on sheer ice was no contest at all. The Blizzaks went
and the Guardex did not! I also get 4 or 5 years of use out of my
Blizzak's.
No argument from me on tires though, as I know that it is really all
personal preference anyway, I just know that the largest tire dealer in the
nation does tire testing and the Blizzak comes out on top every year for the
last 5 or 6 years in a row. They do not test against the tires that they do
not sell though :(

If most of your winter driving is on ice rinks, say you are a Zamboni
driver, then Blizzaks are the top choice. If you drive on various surfaces,
other tires are also very good. I have had excellent performance in snow
with Guardex's. If you drive on dry pavement, then Blizzaks will be at the
bottom of your list. They are almost scary squishy.

About a year ago, I installed a pair of "Angel Eyes" ellipsoid glass headlights on my
E36 M3. They are made by Inpro. Yesterday, I struck a small rock with one of them,
and now one of the glass lens has a small circular pop in it. Does anyone know of a
place where I can buy Inpro replacement lenses? On the lens is the printing "Inpro

Subject: <E30> Electrical Goofiness
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

The battery in our recently acquired '91 325iA has been going dead
overnight. After a good long charge from my battery charger, it was up to
12+ volts. With the engine running, it looks like the alternator is putting
out well over 13 volts. So I suspected that some circuit was draining the
battery when the car sits. Testing with my DVOM across the fuse terminals
gave interesting results.

Fuse 21 - interior lights, radio memory, instrument panel lights, glove box,
rechargeable flashlight (none present), clock, trunk light, fasten seat belt
gong (removed), ignition key warning gong (removed) = 25 milliamps. While
this seems a tad high to me for the radio memory and clock, it is probably
not my problem.

Fuse 27 - central locking system, door lock heating and anti-theft
protection (not sure if it is present or not) = 1 milliamp.

Fuse 28 - lighter (removed from socket) and power antenna (suspect unit) =
um, er, it appears to be off the milliamp scale. Switching to the 10 amp
scale, I get a reading that steadily declines at a rate of 0.1 per second,
like this:

20.0
19.9
19.8
19.7
19.6
This went on down to 1.3 before I stopped watching. A friend told me this
sounded like a capacitor was charging. I don't know if there are any
capacitors in the power antenna, but I disconnected it (man that plug is
hard to disconnect!). The reading on the 10 amp scale went to 0. I
switched back to the 200mA scale and it also now read 0. So certainly
something was happening with the antenna.

Going back to the battery, with the trunk light turned off, the reading
steadily rose to around 9.0 volts. With the trunk light on, the voltage
steadily dropped below 7.5 volts before I got tired of watching my electrons
get wasted. This only took a couple of minutes.

So what the heck is wrong with my electrical system? Should I look for a
non-fuse box circuit that may still be draining the battery? Any
suggestions where to start? Why would use of the trunk light cause the
voltage to drop so dramatically? Or was it the antenna and I just need to
recharge the battery again? This is all very goofy to me.

Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

There is no way to know if your battery is bad, unless you fully charge it
and load test it.

You seem to have found your draw, the antenna. The total draw of the
vehicle, in this case, the E30, should be no more than about 27mA.

Charge the battery up, with the antenna now disconnected, and perform a load
test. If you don't have a tester, go to an auto parts store, most will load
test your battery for free.

If it fails the load test, replace it. If it passes, then see how long it
lasts with the draw below 30mA, it should be fine.

Obviously, you need to start with a full charge.

Bill. stock rods and pistons cannot possibly work with a longer stroke
crank, the piston will pop up out of the bore 1/2 the increase in stroke.
You need either shorter rods or shorter pistons. I don't know which way BMW
went.

thicker oils will make cold weather operation more difficult until the
