I don't get it.

Did the red car crash into the parking lot of vehicles for sale at the
dealership? What a mess.

Yeah, that looks like a used car lot alright. sweeet. My uneducated
guess makes me think the car was airborne and rolling when it crashed
through the fence, hitting the bmw and the white car, and continued to
flip over, landing right side up in its final position.

Thanks Brett, that's a beauty.

And if you haven't heard this audio file of a guy's description of a
fender bender, you really need to. I was laughing so hard I was cryin'.

I got it from here:
http://scottrope.typepad.com/scott_rope/2005/02/jack_in_the_box.html

But if it's down, you can google for "jack in the box voice mail" and
find it all over the place.

The driver was returning to the car lot from a test drive. Apparently he
decided to "show them how it's done", by coming in hard and fast...........
Too hard, and too fast....

How did he manage that? "Throttle stuck", like that

This is what happens when you give a 19yo kid the
keys to a car he can't
legally drive.

The red car is a 400HP HSV (Holden Special
Vehicles, maker of the GTO)
Clubsport Commodore. Power to weight
restrictions for new drivers would not
have allowed a 19 year old to drive this car in
the late 80's. Not sure
what the rules are now.

OBMWC, There's an E36 318iS in several of the
photos.

He hit the fence, which formed a ramp over the BMW.

Saw the Targe Newfoundland show on Speed yesterday. I have the 2003 rally
on DVD, but this seemed to be a combination of new and old footage? Or
all-new, and I'm just seeing shots taken from a couple of same corners?

Anyway, HUGELY interesting to watch. Man, I wanna do this sooooooooo badly.
The in-car video of Roy & Adrienne, and Bill amd Tamara, were AWESOME.
Dang. Heck, I know I'm gonna finish way down in the pack, but the scenery,
roads, and the friendly people all look to make this worthwhile.

Spent a lot of time last night thinking about how to do this. Mind is
"racing"--> what type of car to run, what class to run in, how to get it all
set-up, who can I coerce/taunt/tempt into co-driving, etc. Heck, the BENCH
RACING this summer would be half the fun! Part of me wants to do it in a
355 Challenge, JUST to do it in a Ferrari, even though I know the car is
terribly unsuited for this sort of thing, is liable to break down, be really
expensive to fix, will get slaughtered by Corvettes and Porsche, but still
be waaaaaaay cool. Then I think that, well, maybe a WRX/EVO thing would be
best. Maybe a C5 Corvette? Maybe a 1990 964 (to fit the rules
classification standards, and still have ABS)? Maybe an E30 M3? E36 M3?
An indestructible Supra, with about 1000lbs. stripped out of it? Steal a
couple of Lotus Elises (yeah, let's see if Mark Starr and Huntingridge wants
to bring a brace of Loti...)? Talk a few Ferraristi into it? BWAHAHAHAH!

Andy, what do you think about building a Targa killer - retrofit everything
backwards into a '73 911 chassis, so, effectively, it's a 993/964 running in
the Classic division, kinda like what Bill Arnold did with shoehorning E36
M3 engine, suspension and chassis bitzas into a Bavaria?

Hmmmmm.... We really would need to practice. Maybe some hillclimbs....

Vty,

One comment Roy made about the Targa scoring is that the times you have to
beat are "adjusted" daily. Another comment was that the Targa organizers do
not want a modern car to win (overall) so they adjust accordingly.

I personally do not know the truth of either of these statements. Roy I
believe was 2nd (overall) in 2004 in his E30 M3. One or two seconds ahead
was the E36-powered Bavaria (I think I have that right).

The in-car video of Roy screaming through the housing developments is on a
par with Rendezvous, which I just saw last night. (Rendezvous the roads are
straight, so the speeds are higher.)
