Where is the resistor pack located? In the switch itself?
Thanks!

No. Its probably the resistor pack. Hi speed bypasses the resistors. Gary

On the floor at the firewall, in the vicinity of "behind the gas pedal."
"To replace it, remove the driver side underdash panel, crawl into the
footwell and look above and to the right of the gas pedal for a device
plugged into the side of the plenum connected to four wires. It is
roughly
trapezoidal in shape, and probably molded of white plastic. Disconnect
the
wiring plug, pull it out and go to the dealer for a replacement"

I had a used 91 Ranger xcab/4x4/5sp manual. Pretty much problem free
for the 50K miles I put on it with the exception of the clutch/tranny
mounts and some hard shifting. I passed it on and let the next owner
deal with it.
Explorers of the same vintage which share chassis and drivetrain
components are notorious for auto transmission problems and transfer
case issues on 4x4 models. A quick google search on Explorer
transmission will find many tales of woe. When I was looking for a shop
to replace the Tranny on our 95 explorer, it was interesting to note
that at several shops I visited, if there were ten cars on the lot, 5 of
em were explorers!
I think they addressed the transfer case issues in 95/96 (this is where
the affectionate name EXPLODER came from). Transmission was updated
sometime after that, suggesting a late 90's model might be a good bet.
Whoever said get a Toyota was spot on. They always seem to command a
premium over the Chevy's and Fords, but for good reason - trouble and
major expense free ownership.

a CCA chapter meeting, folks were in awe. A truly impressive drive by
Mr. Stck. Too bad he's not racing with Team PTG any longer :(

Try this link...
http://www.fastdrive.org/download.php?view.447
Its a 53MB Windows Media Player file, but I can play it full screen on
my PowerBook G4. You will need to sign up as a member to download it
(the original location I grabbed the file from has since pulled it,
probably due to popular demand)
I will try to post it in just a little bit on my .Mac homepage. I'll
send out another e-mail in a bit with the URL...

I think that's the file most of us have. It *sort of* runs full screen, but
it's not great resolution.
If you look in the corner of the screen of this video, though, there's a BMW
motorsports link that takes you to a page where I think they're selling DVD's
of the video.

There was a limited-run DVD in PAL video format available, but I believe
they're all sold out. The DVD also has Boris Said's run, and the 3rd
driver in BMW's 24-hour Nurburgring team last year. The run you see with
Stuck is the one that got him pole position.
I'm amazed at how fast the shifts are.
