I'm pretty sure that was a 50-State model. He will have to get
a smog check to register it in CA, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Several months ago we started seriously shopping for a E36 M3 and I got
a lot of great advice from many people off this list so I thought I
would share some pics of the car we ended up buying.

We have had the car for about two months and after about $1K worth of
parts it is in excellent mechanical condition. Needs nothing. Well...it
*wants* a few parts from UUC...but it *needs* nothing right now ;-)
Actually, the first parts the car got were UUC parts, a clutch stop,
transmission mounts and enforcers, and clutch pedal bushings. That was
$100 well spent.

Here are the pics:

1995 530iT, VIN: wbahk2320sgf81158
Located south of Denver - So is this a salt zone or does Colorado depend on
"sand". Why does MSN autos think that the 530iT has 2" lower headroom in
front than the 525iT? Is that a function of the standard mondo sunroof in
the 530? What do you 530 owners think of the v8 vs. the I6 - again, MSN
auto is claiming coil issues with the 525 and nothing of note with the 530.
Fuel economy numbers are comparable, perhaps a function of the standard 5
speed auto in the 530, and the extra ponies indicate it could take an
additional 300# payload penalty over it's 120# extra weight and still have a
slightly superior Hp/weight ratio. What say the experts? Positives,
negatives, gotchas... any input is appreciated - My 533i only SEEMS like
it's going to last forever and I need some load carrying capability.
Thanks, Tom Walrod

I figure the sunroof is the difference in headroom. The sedan probably is
speced with no sunroof. I have both a sedan and a touring and the headroom
seems the same in each.

The V-8 is smooth but more expensive to maintain. Its problems are well
known, leaky valve covers and stuff.

The 6 cyl really wants more gears but it doesn't have them. Its not a big
problem but performance suffers. On the bright side, the 4 speed
transmission is much cheaper to replace than the 5 speed in the V-8.

A 4 liter 6 speed conversion is much easier starting with a V-8 <grin>.

Just get an M5 Touring <more grins>.

Colorado generally uses cinders or sand. Occasionally the cities use a
non-NaCl chemical pre-treatment if they can get it on the roads in
advance of a snowfall.

Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Going to replace a wrecked fender on an E30....does the front of the fender
have to be welded to the core support (like an '02)?...or is it bolted? I
assume the rear of the fender is held on by screws right?

Going to attempt a temporary fix over the winter on a wrecked E30 fender.

Thanks for any advice,

John Weese
