Try HRPworld.com I ordered 3 bottles online on Monday and got them Thursday for about $0.50 more than I couldn't get the same for from Pep Boy's. They have a great catalog for road racers. I tried the Red line products, and they seem ok, but so far they dont work for me. Power steering fluid appears to have started my Buick leaking. ATF did no better than Mobil1 in my gearbox. MTL did not do much better and I have been reading and hearing of it causing accelerated wear to make the synchros mesh better. I like the fuel injection cleaner, but I have seen some variance in quailty...maybe counterfit??? Someone also said they used Summit, good folks there, but I liked Hoerr's price and I like to find new places and they seem like a decent outfit. Going to try and get the synchromax in in a little bit. The car is an '87 325i. It fails with high NOx. Tested 3.15, limit is 3.0. These are almost identical numbers to the last time it failed and they had me replace the catalyst (tested at 3.13 then). NOx is usually due to a lean mix, right? I guess that would point to the O2 sensor or vacuum leaks... I don't think I have any more vacuum leaks. Temperature reads fine on the gauge. Plenty of coolant. Electrical fans all work (not that they ever turn on unless something is amiss) fan clutch is about 1.5 years old. Fan has all its blades. Valves were just adjusted to the spec in the book (0.010 cold) and I even did the test where the 0.009 was loose and the 0.011 wouldn't go in. Valve cover gasket was replaced (stopped the oil seepage too). Oil fill cap gasket replaced (you never really know how bad they were till you see a new one). Crankcase breather line replaced (Old one didn't have cracks, but it shattered when I twisted it) Vacuum lines to the brake booster all replaced (I was replacing all the other rubber bits...). Replaced o-rings on the dip stick (I had them. I was there...). The rubber boot to the AFM is fine and all clamps tight. O-rings on the injectors were replaced about three years ago. New fuel pressure regulator. Vacuum line is tight. Fuel pumps were done about 1.5 years ago. Catalyst replaced 2 years ago (if my old one was good, so help me....). I am running 93 octane and even did some highway driving to clean her out a bit (I live a little too close to work so most driving is short trips). O2 sensor cap, rotor and plug wires are about 5 years old, but I am getting no codes and it drives fine (Maybe the problem is here?) I believe that Mr. Anderson mentioned setting the valves to 0.012 cold to help this problem... would that help? Also, if I have one, would checking the settings of the fuel quality switch be worth it? Perhaps a PO fiddled (or perhaps fiddling would help?)... If CO or HC were the points is was failing on and/or it was sucking down oil at a spectacular rate, I might consider the engine worn out or something, but NOx? Man this is annoying. I though they fixed this the last time around. If it is the catalyst... that is under warranty according to my paperwork. -- Joe -- Joseph M.
