To confirm that in practical terms, a friend of mine tows his E36 mod racecar on an open trailer using his X5. Assuming 3000 lb for the racecar, tires and tools and maybe 2000 lb for the trailer, that suggests 5000 lb to be perfectly doable. I almost went that way before opting for an enclosed trailer and the resulting diesel BAT (big-*ss truck). - Mark ----- [EMAIL PROTECTED] Check out my JustRacing Home Page at: http://www.justracing.com/homepage/mdadgar ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Mar 2006 11:04:58 -0800 From: Brian Ghidinelli <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: uucdigest <[email protected]> Subject: Re: X5/X3 towing questions Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mark Dadgar wrote: > An X5 4.4 has a towing limit of 6000 lbs. I thought I was doing a single enclosed trailer so I picked up a Ram 2500 diesel absolutely sure it was "more truck than I would ever need". Now I have a 40' gooseneck with two spec miatas for my teammate and I. :) The slope is slippery... just let gooooooooooo! Brian ps, if you can find it, a 30 or 32' gooseneck is 10x better than a 20' tag. The 3,000# boat I tow moves the truck more than the 15,000# gooseneck. -- http://www.MotorsportReg.com/calendar - 700+ nation-wide track events! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Mar 2006 11:08:40 -0800 From: Mark Dadgar <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Subject: Re: X5/X3 towing questions Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> On Mar 24, 2006, at 11:04 AM, Brian Ghidinelli wrote: > ps, if you can find it, a 30 or 32' gooseneck is 10x better than a 20' > tag. I will probably upgrade from my 22' box + 4 foot V-nose tag to a "short" (28-32') gooseneck at some point in the not-too-distant future. - Mark ----- [EMAIL PROTECTED] Check out my JustRacing Home Page at: http://www.justracing.com/homepage/mdadgar ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Mar 2006 10:23:26 -0500 From: "DUNLAP, LARRY" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Subject: E36 Interior Questions Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I searched through the archives but I didn't see anything on this one... I've acquired a set of heated, power fronts for my 1993 318is, which did not originally come equipped with those. Installation will be easy enough, but is the necessary wiring/fuses/(relay?) already in place? Yes. Done it several times on the M3. It's a tight squeeze, and requires you to compress the dash a bit on the cluster's way out, but it can be done.
