There were two E21 green colors that I know of. Reseda (like on our old
'77 630CSi) was originally a medium slightly avocado-y metallic green
which, when sun-faded, turned into a very nice slightly gray-ish green. If
it became any more sun-faded, the paint crazed and then you repainted the
car. BTDT. I can't recall the other green color name, but it was a much
lighter shade with no avocado-i-ness. Your description of "pale" could be
this other color, or the faded version of Reseda. BTW, I've been to Reseda
CA, but I can't say that I know where the color name comes from.

Is it the Karate Kid's color? I live in Reseda, but
there's nothing specifically green here. :-P

Subject: track tire wear
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Car is '87 325 w/Bilstein Sports, H&R race spings, ST bars, and Toyo RA1s.

I've been monitoring the tire pressure and run 40psi all around when
hot. Problem I'm seeing is the left rear is wearing a lot on the
outside edge.

When I was running street tires, it was the left front that saw the most
edge wear.

Can I address this w/air pressure? more? less?

I had wanted to get 2 seasons out of the tires but right now that tire
will not last this season. Only have 2 days on them, 1 Gingerman, 1
Blackhawk.

Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

I don't know about Blackhawk but Gingerman will kill tires in no time.
You must rotate them or else.

Also have your alignment checked, maybe there's a problem with your
rear suspension.

-Carlos.

When you say edge, do you mean that you're getting wear just onthe corner of
the tire? as in rolling over the edge?

Sounds like you could benefit from more negative camber. Without that, you can
rotate aggressively (during the course of a day even) to spread the wear across
all 4 tires, then flip the RA1s on their rims to use up the inside half of the
tread as well.

I'm not wearing tires this much lately. Barely have time to mow the lawn let
alone get to the track these days... 8^ (

Yes, the edge wear is as in the tire rolling over. Thanks for making a
distinction. Otherwise the wear is even across the tread.

Yeah, adjustable rear camber is nice, but it ain't gonna happen on this
car. It was a big treat to get the RA1s!

I rotate front and back, but the RA1s indicate they are left and right
exclusive; unless I'm mistaken about that. If so, I'll go left/right
next time out.

RA1 direction is unimportant except for rain use.

Thanks to I-88 my 1991 318is acquired a smashed foglight lens on the
way to Watkins Glen in May. Has anyone dealt with bmwlights.com?
They popped up at the top of a Google search for replacement lens
sources. Does anyone have other favored sources? The lights still
work, I just need the lenses (may as well replace the other one too,
it's pretty sandblasted after 15 years).

TIA.

A friend in MS is looking to replace only two of his rims. Anyone know of a
lead on a pair?

Cheers,

Roland
