I found this solution on an e36/5(?) 318ti forum by google searching. I
didn't believe the upgrade was so simple until I bolted it together myself.

I need to price out the components at worldpack which will be my cost. I
also need to call my connect @ the dealer for the caliper bracket as well.
Initial pricing everything form the dealer was around $800-$900 range, but I
bet worldpack prices bring that down a bit.

All I have is the front brakes. Once you have disks on the rear you are fine
unless you are doing some heavy racing. Balance issues (if any), are easy to
address economically as well via OE proportioning valves or fancy adjustable
bias valves are not extremely expensive either.

Inventory wise I've got the front calipers with brackets, low mileage pads &
rotors.

This stuff is BOLT-ON to an e36 !!NON-M3!!, and that would include the 318ti
and the Z3 (but again, not the M versions). Don't let anyone tell you
different as I test fitted the parts before I committed to buying them.

Since I haven't paid for them yet I am going to give 1st right of refusal to
the fellow who sold them to me as he is building the 330i I took them from
into a track car.

I'll send you a note tomorrow night with pricing and final availability.

Paul,

I doubt I will go with the 330i brakes, as I believe they are about 325MM in
diameter and that would force me to abandon my two sets of 16" rims and go
to at least 17", unless you know something I don't?

Just for tickles, what would you want for them and what all do you have?

David

pondering using the 300MM brakes off of an e46 323i. I got to thinking, as
these require 16inch rims and the stock rim can be as small as 15 inch, will
the stock spare clear the 300MM brakes??? How about some of the bigger
ones...I have seen as high as 355MM.

If you're not racing, why do you need the larger brakes? For not too much
more you can get a real brake kit from UUCmotorwerks.

Good points..may I be the devils advocate?

I am racing, at least planning on attending auto-x's and DE's, perhaps a
local club race or three... My intentions were to upgrade the wifes e36/328i
to the e46/330i brakes as they were a simple bolt in affair and would let me
buy cheap and widely available spares...

The UUC kit looks very attractive, and looks like it will have higher limits
than the e46/330i brakes, but the price difference looks more like $500 to
$600 which makes it about 50% more.
I couldn't argue with the math on the 330i brakes and if I still had the
328i I'd be using these brakes.
I am trying like heck to use them on my e30s52 project but the geometry
issues in using e36 knuckles is turning me off, particularly in light of the
fact that I've got a lead on a complete e30M3 suspension and I can use the
e36M3 brakes on it. (yes, I know I'll need spacers for the rotors..albeight
little ones)

So that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! ;-)

Help!

My local glass company said their vendors can't provide a new window.
Are new ones available anywhere? If not, can someone provide a contact
for getting a used one?

thanks,
mike

Subject: <E36> Seat travel extension
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hey folks,

My fanaticism has rubbed off on yet another unsuspecting
victim, and my roommate is shopping for a car. He's eyeing
E34s and E36s. We have seen at least one of each that he
likes and is seriously considering. Currently he prefers
the E36, but there's a small problem. Well, it's a big
problem: he's 6'6" tall, average build, and with the
manual E36 seats all the way down and back his knees are
bent enough that he has hand-to-leg contact when turning
the wheel. No one can ride behind him, so rear seat space
is unimportant. The question:

Does anyone make custom seat rails that bolt into the same
holes but allow a manual seat to travel back an extra three
or four inches?

Thanks much for any possible leads on this, I JFGI'd and
found nada.

-tammer <--doesn't have this problem :-)
