Amen, brother!

Speaking of fun BMWs, my E38 740iL is about to 153k miles. I'm still not
enamored of the Bangle butt. Which sparked my memory, so I took yet another
look at Rob's Brett-Mobile monster 750iL sport Transporter beast. Man, I am
sooooooo seriously in lust with that car. I wish I could get one to replace
my current, humdrum, daily driver. Of course, I'd have to take out a third
mortgage on the house to do so....

Ah, lust!

Vty,

I'm no economist.....

So here is a story problem for you:

If I save enough to pay *cash* (that's ideal, right?) for said car at a
3% savings interest rate and inflation at a 3% rate how much would I
save over borrowing the money now to pay for the car at a tax deductible
rate of 5%? Don't forget to add in the bus fare I have to pay while I'm
saving. ;-)

Many would say that neither is a great idea.

I just installed the Harmon Kardon TrafficPro units that they're clearing
out from the stillborn BMW-OE project in my E36 and E30, and about to do the
same in my E34.

Here it is in the E36. Absolutely perfect illumination match:

Mark says:
"2) if you have a higher *efficiency* pump, which is what this one is,
you can turn it slower to get the same water flow. And that's less
engine power wasted on the water pump."

So Mark are you suggesting that an underdrive pulley is also warranted
here?

I'm saying nothing about this particular pump, since I don't know all
the details. :)

But it's potentially doable. Ask the supplier.

Sure, one needs the pressure/volume curves for several different pump rpm,
then the flow/pressure curve for the cooling system.

How about adapting the N54 electric water pump?

Friend from Chicago has no accessories in the front of his E36's engine
(race car). Electric water pump, electric pwr steering pump (Mini
Cooper), and the alternator belt is driven off the driveshaft.

Carlos.
98 M3 new water pump but underdriven I think (Evosport pulleys),
Zionsville radiator, no fan/clutch, no cooling problems.

It comes with two CDs that cover the entire USA, and future updates are
assured as NaviSys makes similar units for Ferrari, Ford, and others that
use the same CDs.

>From what I understand, the BMW TrafficPro units are not available for
general purchase from BMW or HK... however, they can be gotten through Bill
at Motorsport Recycling (they're also an exotic car dealer). I just spoke
with him and he said he should be able to buy out HK's remaining stock.
He'd need at least 10 orders to make this happen, and pricing should be
under $700 each.

If interested, please contact Bill directly: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

You may want to see if any of the general car audio retailers still

Hi David:

There was a BMW model (4771) which never made it to market, new original units
are available from Tony at Becker (1-888-423-3537 ext 1224) for $499 plus $100
to update the software and $55 for the BMW adapter. There is also a Yahoo group
(Trafficpro) where this is discussed and a web site with FAQ's and pictures:
http://www.waycoolinc.com/z3/01/081501/becker.html

Other models made by HK, such as 4773 are also available, but they may not be
amber and they won't work with the BMW electronics (e.g. CD Changer, volume
control on the steering wheel, diversity antenna).

They all come with AUX INPUTs. No native MP3 support.
