Thanks for the link, I hadn't seen that video. According to Autoweek,
the rumors are V10 with a V12 option. It's going to be bigger than
the current 7 series in length and width, but not as tall and priced
well above $100K. I can't afford a new one but maybe they'll
depreciate as fast as the 7 so two or three years after introduction
it should be "affordable".

Realoem shows 33326770817 for my 98 sedan.

Dealer orders 33326770817; that's what the receipt
says - that's what the parts bag says.

The actual part is labeled 33326757885. The design
is slightly different than what I'm familiar with.
Realoem takes this back to the Z4. Dealer says 885
has superseded 817.

Anyone have any recent experience with E36 RTABS?
Has there indeed been a change? I don't want to pull
the car apart only to find there is a problem.

The Z4 has similar rear suspension to the E36 and E46, so it seems plausible
to me. Perhaps check if E46 parts have also been superseded.

It does supersede, and it fits all the way from 92 E36 to current Z4.

I have one new Toyo RA-1 225/40/17 tire, full tread depth, for sale. My
race season ended this weekend (remaining races have schedule conflicts) and
I don't just want to have the tire sit in the trailer all summer...

Yours for $125 plus actual shipping costs from 89144.

Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

The blower gave up in my '97 328is this morning. It's not turning on at
all--no matter what speed I set it on, the fan stays off. I know about the
climate control computer faults, but the entire display is still functional and
all the buttons work, so I don't believe it's that.

In my E30, I know it's the resistor pack when the fan only works on high, and
it looks like there is a resistor for the E36 as well. Is that the likely
culprit?

I'm planning to get rid of the car soon, so I just want to get it working again
without just throwing parts at it.

Thanks
Kevin

Finally getting to installing a new-to-me Supersprint SS DTM cat-back on
the e36M3/4.

Put it on last week. As has been my experience with Supersprint,
appeared to fit beautifully (w/all new mount parts replaced upon
installation).

An 800 mi road trip, several large speed tables & numerous DC potholes
later...heard some banging. Looks like the pipe is hitting the rear sway
bar during suspension travel. Everything seems tight, but there is
movement built into the mounts for isolation. I've just been trying many
iterations of adjusting the mounting brackets/bushings to no avail. Damn
it's hot here today.

From the rubbing marks, it appears that the latter part of the heat
shield on the pipe is contacting the part of the sway bar that angles up
right after the bushing link

Anyone ever run into this problem? I'm about to start bending the mount
stubs on the muffler and I'd hate to tear one off.

cheers!

Barry,
All new rubber (4 pcs), new brackets/clamps hardware and a brand new
tube of anti-seize!

Upon dis-assembly and a few lemonades to fight off dehydration, I
noticed that the passenger side mounting bar on the muffler body was not
really straight and thus was not well secured inside the 2 pc clamp (it
was a used muffler). I bent the bar up a bit, flipped the large rubber
hanger on that side so it would grab further back on the bar, (it's
asymmetric N-S) loosened the pivot bolt on the hanger so it would
align/preload better as you suggest and it did snug up better. Road
testing to follow!

There is also an inner mount position for the passenger side hanger that
is more inboard. I tried using that position, but the muffler can was
too big. Interesting that there are provisions for a more slender
exhaust on this car...up-front racing design perhaps?

Actually, I think coming indoors to the A/C and typing an email prolly
helped the diagnosis ;-). My 11 yr old nephew was mighty impressed that
I was crawling under the car at 0700 in their driveway last week during
our road trip to figure out what was causing all that racket in the back...

I'm quite impressed with the quality and performance of this item,
although I'd lean towards that lovely UUC Corsa piece of kit if I was
buying new (shameless plug for our beloved sponsors).

cheers!

Regardless of the design intent for the inboard mount on the left......I
used it for my custom 'track' exhaust on my car. It fit the muffler can
profile better and still allowed me to utilize the stock hanger rubbers. I
simply welded a strap to the muffler and used a bolt through the factory
rubber upper mounts. Worked like a charm!
So whatever the motivation of the folks at BMW.....THANKS! :)

Cheers,
Chet Dawes

1) fuse. 2) probe resistor connector. 3) probe fan wire. 4) probe points
in between.

Brian,
I like the way the mid dash wraps back toward the driver. Back to the old
form which is lost on the slab of the current chassis.

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but you could try using something colder
than ice, like if you use a can of "air" which you can find in computer
stores to blow crap out of the keyboard of your computer and dust off
circuit boards. Turn the can upside down so liquid comes out instead of
whatever gas it is, and that liquid is extremely cold, like skin frostbite
cold. (that liquid is quite flammable, by the way, so be careful).

This stuff may be cold enough to solidify the gum so you can chip it off
instead of smearing it. As usual, suggest testing an inconspicuous place
first.

(I have a theory that this liquid canned air is the same stuff you pay about
100X the price for a tiny can of as wart remover freeze stuff, actually -
word to the wise for you wart-laden bimmer fans)
