Agreed. I'll put it on my to-do list (unless Joel gets to it first).
Typewriter fonts don't scale well w.r.t. others. They tend to be too thin. Try viewing pages at larger point sizes. That said, I'm not sure I know what's better. I like Lucida Console for my work, but I don't use it by default in my web browser for some reason.
I agree, but in my opinion, we're doing the right thing by just putting text in <tt></tt> and obeying the browser's settings.
