Kandi, Append mode means that when you start writing again, the new material will appear at the end where you left off. This was very confusing for me when I went from the Braille ;'n Speak to a PC, and also to this BN mPower. Now that I'm used to the mPower, it's no big problem. Overwrite is also a Braille ;'n Speak or Braille Lite command, the "ow" symbol with space bar. You use it to delete and replace a character. If you did the command twice, you'd have continuous overwrite. You can use this command with the BN but I believe just for one character at a time. It's just as easy, with the BN, to use the backspace to delete, either by itself or with dots 3-6 and the backspace.
Hope that makes sense.
Kathy
