I'm thinking you're right, Ben.  Any advice from the fine members of the
forum would be greatly appreciated!

Please feel free to add to the procedure list or correct.  This'll be my
first time so if there's tips, etc... that you folks would offer to share,
I would be very grateful.  i'll search the forum as well for any procedures
that others have posted.

Right now - the list of things I need to fix the brew boiler:

- get the blue gunk off -> i'm hoping it's easy to get off.  It feels like
silicone of some sort
- get the heating element out -> I'm guessing this will involve boiler
removal
- obtain some food safe sealant -> either the loctite or the stuff Mario
linked to
- put everything back together

So to do this, I'll need:

- tools: wrenches, (?)
- towels
- teflon tape
