the only "required" liquids are the ingredients in the lemonade, which actually don't taste bad at all. there's a recommended salt water flush that i don't do... tried it once. can't. but i do drink a laxative tea at night to help push out the bad stuff. > What I don't understand, is why not simply eat healthy food and portions and > up the exercise? I'd bet you would lose just as much weight, and be > healthier for it ... even if you just did a chicometrics routine every night > if you couldn't get to a gym. 2 reasons. 1) i need results by february 23rd. 2) i am an instant gratification whore. after day 1, i had lost 2.5 lbs. to me, that excites me and motivates me to keep going. > I mean to each their own of course, and I'm pulling for you to reach your > goal Charlie, but I've heard about this "diet/detox" regime for months now > (Robin on Howard Stern had them living with her whilst she did) and well, > how healthy is it really? What about vitamins? and nutrients? I know it's > short term, but but but ... well, just but! :) one of the big reasons i first chose to do this was because of the way Robin endorsed it. there's no product to buy, so i figured she didn't have any ulterior motive (unless lemon growers or the maple syrup industry was giving the stern show some kickbacks). from what i understand (and i am not a nutritionist), the combination of the lemon, cayenne pepper, and syrup give you the vitamins and nutrients that your body needs during the time you're on the fast. > Am I the only one that thinks it's too extreme? But what you gonna do > when you're all done? What's the plan Stan? that's the key right there. obviously if i go back to eating as i please and exercising infrequently to never, it's all going to come back (and then some). like i said... right now this is about instant gratification. a few months back i hired a personal trainer and we went out walking/running every morning (and i am *so* not a morning person). i made a concerted effort to start eating right. and yeah, i dropped a few pounds. but nothing noticable. i know it would have taken time... but being the instant gratification person that i am, i just found myself getting discouraged too easily. i have no idea how much more i'll lose in the next 8 days. but already, aside from seeing 9.5 lbs less on the scale, i see a difference in my face. it's no longer as round as it used to be. those are results, and results motivate me. i'm *hoping* that there will be enough motivation for me to make the necessary changes to my diet (and over the past year i have been eating better... not 'good' yet, but better) and do some exercise (i did buy the chicometrics dvd). the difference will be that it won't be a matter of trying to attain a specific result and getting discouraged when that result takes time. it will be maintaining a change that i'm happy with, and not wanting to go back to having a round face :) is it extreme? yes. it pretty much blows. i'd love a huge greasy burger right about now. but i think that in 8 days, i'll be so happy to chew on solid food that carrots and celery and good stuff will be VERY welcome :) -- Evelyn the dog, having undergone further modification pondered the significance of short-person behaviour in pedal depressed, pan-chromatic resonance, and other highly ambient domains.
