Actually I'd be inclined to say that if we were all afraid of doing anything non standard we'd never see any substantial changes to the standards. Feature adoption is driven by use and availability. If a feature were not available it'd never get used (Obviously). This means that if we stuck to only stuff that complied to standards then there would be no driving force to change standards. Just think we'd all be building pages with <BLINK> tags :) I agree that any service oriented site should allow for more than single browser support. Although NS4 and IE4 are getting a bit old IMO.
