I agree with Susan about putting the wire on YOUR side of the fence.
When I lived in Ringwood, NJ we had a "wire" around our garden to keep
the animals out. Someone walking their dog down the fire lane NEXT to
our yard let their dog in our yard, he got zapped and they reported us
to the town! An uninvited intruder - and guess what? The town had an
ordinance against electric fences and we had to take it down. Good news
is that we moved about 6 months later! If you're going to put up one of
those fences, just check with your town. They do work BTW!
