That is not
the way to breed and why I foresee a generic Cavalier in the future -
passing all its health clearances but the true essence of the Cavalier lost
Again just my opinion for what it is worth

Annette
------------

Well, the US has tried breeding for type and gotten the beautiful Cavalier
that drops dead at age seven. Surely there is a midway point between that
and the plain dog that lives to be 15. Well, I know that there is as I have
seen some beauties that were old and typy, so I know that it can be done,
but not by breeding to unhealthy dogs no matter how beautiful.

I actually think that the breeder practises and club politics in the past
caused a genetic bottleneck that was similar to the cheetah or to foundation
stud syndrome. This can be overcome, but not by using unhealthy dogs even if
they are of great beauty.

All the best,
Susan Cochran
