Actually I would imagine it can easily be done. Look at all the brokers - look at all the people who own 15-20 bitches and a couple mediocre stud dogs - and wham they are in business. Puppies from these places sell just as easily as someone who tests and shows across the country - sad truth. I finished 2 CKCSC, USA champions who were both on co-ownership - both were given to me by a good friend. And most importantly they were given to me AFTER their potential was easily seen. One at a year and one at 2 1/2 years. One of those went on to produce my own National Specialty winner :o) Gosh I guess that makes me stupid according to some of the posts I have read <and that is said VERY tongue in cheek>. And even more important both girls are still alive, happy and probably sound asleep on a wally bed in my house as I type (both at 10 years old). Yes I could have made more money if I had never co-owned - but for some of us who are the middle-class, one in-come household - our vacations and our life are spent on the dogs - and that is no joke - but more importantly I wouldn't have it any other way. I grew up from the time I was 10 years old until well into my 20's breeding and showing competitively in the Quarter Horse world - so some of us come from other venues and don't feel like the world of Cavaliers "owes us". I also did the whole 4-H scene including horse judging - and while that did help me in evaluating structure and movement I sure never would expect that to make me the top candidate for a show Cavalier :o) Did I mention it was not until my 5th Cavalier that I acheieved a CKCSC Championship :o) Some things do take time ........ and learning.
