Could be things like understanding structure and movement as it relates to
type-  understanding the difficulties of trying to find the right
combination in breeding - the committment required, etc.
I think horses are much more expensive to maintain and show, and you
certainly get a smaller "litter", so the odds of getting what you want are
probably even less.  Ever try to take a horse on an airline in a sherpa
bag!?  LOL
