 I was wondering the same question.
  When I discussed this with the vet at the U of Wisconsin, Madison,
she seemed relieved that I had heard of other cavaliers that had larger
platelets.  She said that she had heard of other breeds that have
platelets that are difficult for the automated counter to recognize.
