Judy, Thanks very much for the information about the 1994 vote. It was
certainly unfortunate that the ballot issue was whether or not to turn over
the stud book rather than whether or not to be the parent club. However it
is clear that with only 119 yes votes the majority of breeders in CKCSC at
the time voted against turning over the stud book. There were over 300
registered kennel affixes at the time. And many kennels have at leat two
voting members. So at the very least there was a potential of 400 plus
votes from breeders.   Pretty clearly half of the membership did not vote.
So it is time to lay to rest the myth that pet owners were responsible for
the outcome. These are obviously important issues since a vote of the CKCSC
membership appears slowly to be coming about on opening the book for AKC
