I prefer email as well because it is more convenient and also because I just don't like to talk on the phone. I wish I didn't own phones. My husband loves to talk on the phone, however, so he does most of the puppy calls. We get a lot of inquiries and we finally got so tired of the time spent educating BEFORE we told them the price, that now.....as tacky as it may seem to a lot of you....the first thing we tell them is the price. We both got tired of talking for an hour on the phone answering questions and then having people tell us they are looking for a $300 cavalier. Second thing we do is refer them to our web site to look at the dogs and try to get a feel for our pedigrees and our dogs. We're proud of our dogs and we would like to have puppy buyers at least take a look at them before we talk about a puppy. THEN, if they live within driving distance, we invite them to come over and meet us and meet the dogs and give us all a chance to get to know each other. We like for them to see the whole family, as well as how the dogs are cared for, and tended. We make it plain that we expect a puppy to be given the same kind of life that they have here. We also learn a lot about people as we watch how they react to a little army of cavaliers fighting over who gets to sit in their laps. If they don't live close enough for a visit, then I tell them to phone my husband and discuss a puppy purchase. If we don't have puppies, I refer to the COPS web site, the CKCSC web site, or other breeders who have pups. We are also careful to make referals to those breeders who have used one of our boys recently. We take a very personal interest in how those puppies are placed. I agree though with Deborah. A lot of people have talked me out of selling them a puppy in a long phone conversation, and I agree that talking to them is valuable. I just can't stand talking on the phone, and my dogs are always very naughty when I'm on the phone. I think they know I'm distracted. Myra
