I don't understand what you mean by "mortification". Taken literally,
"mortification" means "to kill", or "to make deathlike"; it used to be
used to describe gangrene. Metaphorically, it means rendering
powerless, often by humiliation.

Do you mean "torment" or "desecration"? I'm pretty sure not, since Lu
is a god of desecration, while Ki is a god of torment (I think). OTOH,
Ma basically desecrates life itself...
