Hi Neville,

John Callaghan said that should be firm. Looking at the design, if they were
tensioned, the engine would be pulled back on the rubber mounts. The mounts
are not designed to take horizontal loads, rather up and down ones so the
cables take most, if not all the thrust of the engine. If they are loose,
you can imagine the effect ... the rubber mounts would be distorted. So
firm but not tensioned. (snugged up)

The oil is interesting ... with the 109's 2.4 engine I used standard
multigrade for the flight testing so there was NO added cooling effect of
"special" oil but will be using Pensoil (or however it is spelt) 10W50 or 60
synthetic oil as Ian McPhee says it runs cooler. Re the inhibiting oil ....
can't answer that but Others who have had more experience may.

Best regards

Ian W.

Hi Ian.

Couple of quick queries for you.

The crossed bracing cables (with turnbuckles) under the engine. Do these
need to be tensioned or just 'snugged up'?

My engine was drained and filled with inhibiting oil before leaving Europe.
When I drain this, does the engine need flushing ( and if so, what with)
before filling with regular oil?

Cheers,

Neville.
