Well, the main reason I'd opt for the faster lens is
because of the larger aperture, not focus differences,
but yes, I agree.  But by the same token I suppose you
could say the the EOS is suboptimal compared to a 1v. 
That doesn't mean it's inadequate, however, and I
don't think AF with the 28-135 is inadequate, either.
