Thank you. And I can assure you that photography is not the
highest priority, but it's up there alright. I've always wanted
to go to Japan, and we decided to go there rather unexpectedly.
Since we need to go to Singapore anyway for a reception, it costs
us nothing for airfare to stop in Japan. I didn't think I'd get
to go to Japan for a long time to come, but now that we're going,
I'm going to make the most of it and shoot up. It's a total
bonus.

Thank you for the link. You gotta have priorities, I guess. :)
Actually, it's a good thing I'm getting the Elan now. I may never
get to buy something with a full viewfinder, but at least I won't
be stuck with a Rebel for the rest of my life. ;)

Thanks for the "comprehensive" comparison. I didn't know the
1000FN was so respectable. A split-image focus screen? And a
near-IR assist? Not bad at all...But your Elan 7e list was longer
for obvious reason. I'd say the trade-off is pretty stacked in
the
Elan's favor...
BTW, e-mailing you had reminded me--the EOS Doc project is now
one year old! Happy birthday.
take care,
Chris
