Hi Bill,
I bought an split image screen meant for the Canon EF-M from
Canon spare parts. It fits the EOS 1000FN perfectly.
Sorry, I don't know if a split-image is possible for the
EOS 5/A2E.
If you have AF boxes or metering marks on your focussing
screen, you could always try a reticle focussing technique.
