Seems to me it's not really different from backpackingyour comfort level is
directly related to your level of fitness. Backpackers routinely carry 4060
lbs. for several days at a stretch. Some conditioning hikes with your
fully-loaded Super Trekker should help quite a bit.

If that approach doesn't do it for you, do the other thing backpackers do: shed
weight. In this case, the two most obvious choices are:

1) Swap one of the bodies for something lighter like the Elan 7.

2) Get a lighter tripod-and-head combothat B2 is pretty hefty at 3.4 lbs, and
probably a lot more head than you need for the 1v and 300/2.8 (I've had no
problem using the 300/2.8 w/2x extender and an EOS 3 on a Linhof Profi II, which
weighs only 1.2 lbs); if you're commited to Arca, the B1 is less than half the
weight of the B2.

A couple years ago I spent a day hiking up McKittrick Canyon in southwest Texas;
in a Nature Trekker I carried a 300/2.8L, one or both EF extenders, a
28-70/2.8L, a 20-35/3.5~4.5, an EOS 3, possibly the 200/2.8L, and perhaps a
550EX flash, along with film, filters, two liters of water, food, and a Gitzo
carbon fiber tripod w/Linhof Profi II, (and a pair of compact binoculars). It
wasn't the same as walking unencumbered, but it wasn't a hardship eitherand my
fitness level is not very high. I don't think the pack weighed more than 40 lbs,
but since I don't own a scale I can't say for sure. Oh, and I made sure to leave
all my cotton clothing in the suitcase! :-) One more thing . . . be sure the
pack is adjusted properlymost of the weight should be on your hips, not on your
shoulders.
