Dan, I'm neither for nor against the 4 stroke-just trying to get as much
food out for a good discussion. Hope you are enjoying this-even CR is a
true gentleman these days.
While 2-stroke is indeed more sensitive to exhaust tuning-the development of
a top notch 4-stroke 4 cylinder hearer is not trival- The Hayabusa header in
my basement is very complicated. Crossover's and Y's, then a small
expansion or tuning chamber in one tube before the intermediate pipes
leading to the mufflers. Lotsa bends and welds.
When it comes to simplicity and weight- there is definitely an adavantage to
2-strokes-especially one with a single pipe.

Model No.: GSXR 600
Product Origin: Japan
Brand Name: Suzuki
Unit Price: 3,100.00 USD
Certification(s): Indonesia Trading Department
this is what a dealer pays for the entire bike .give or take a few $
depending on how many they order hmmmmm, allthough chuck is obviously
against the whole idea, i would like to point out the stimate for exaust is
kinda crazy, you have to remember the 4 syroke doesn't rely on the exhaust
to run so its not as touchy as the f500 pipes.

Yes Chris, that's right, but then a old wagon should be easier to work on
and prep.
It is a very conservative comparison for what it will cost for members to
have a front running stock 4-stroke-it shall probably be even more than
that since these are more complicated motors than Pinto motors.

Comparing a Pinto engine to the GSXR is like comparing a wagon train to
a F1 car....

There is no fair comparison cost wise at this point
The GSXR600 may be far more expensive than a 2-stroke.
The GXSR600 is spec'd by the mfg at 115 HP motor in pure stock form with
a
quiet exhaust system on pump gas-not a bad thing.
The GSXR750 is 146 HP stock.
However, within the limits of ANY stock engine class, there is ALWAYS
more
HP to be had.
The STOCK cam and STOCK carburator Pinto motor puts out 115 HP in FF1600.
Yet this was about a 80 HP engine from the factory.
