Hi,

Since I'm having almost no spare time these days, I'll have to
do the various suggested tests little by little.

I did a test *without* loading HIMEM, JEMM, KEYB/MKEYB, FDAPM or
DPAKBD. I had to reduce processor speed, otherwise the text
editor won't even run. Result: The problem did not appear.

Then I tested with HIMEM and MKEYB as you said. Same result:
problem did not appear.

Now a few answers to questions from other people.

Yes, that's the one. Probably the first shareware I ever bought
:-)

The only ones I actually use are Vision Edit, JSpell and its
companion program DictMan.

I had never heard about these TSRs. I'll try them.

This is a First International motherboard with a 1 GHz processor
and 512 MB memory. But I had already observed the exact same
keyboard problem in older Pentiums -- 166 to 360 MHz.

For the text editor it might actually be good advice.

However, this keyboard problem can be dangerous if it manifests
in a spreadsheet or database.

Don't worry! As my work always involved massive amounts of
writing, I have tried many, many editors over the years.

The ones I use most these days are FTE, Aurora and TDE, in that
order -- all of them very good. I'm fairly proficient at writing
Aurora macros, which are super-powerful. They have gotten me out
of trouble countless times. To me, Aurora is the best of them
all.

I also use SET Editor, though not so often. It uses TP and does
not have the bug.

All of these run faultlessly in FreeDOS, so I can easily live
without Vision Editor.

Regards,

Marcos
