Hi Dark,

No, for voice work no one should have to pay $1,000. A decent
microphone would cost between $100 and $150. I suppose if someone
wants one cheaply they can get a reasonable microphone for $50, but as
with anything else the more you pay the better the equipment is.
Problem is most people I have found when doing interviews for MOTA
only had $15 to $25 microphones which sounded terrible to me.
