Greetings,
I was gonna post this question on the Forums at SJGames, but the
website doesn't seem to be responding.... so here goes.
When purchasing a leveled advantage with enhancements and limitations,
do you apply the modifiers to the per-level cost, round off, then take
however many levels? Or apply the modifiers to the per-level cost,
buy up the levels, then round off? Or do you buy up the levels, then
apply the modifiers?
<snip>
Kromm has stated on the forums before that all rounding is done at the
end, therefore Case A is entirely inappropriate.
Case C: DR per-level 5 => 20 levels * 5 = 120, +20%, -10% => 110
Cases B and C are mathematically identical and will produce the same
results, so can be used interchangeably; that said, I suggest going with
Case C as most non-mathematical people would prefer to deal with as few
decimal fractions as possible.
Case C results in whole numbers until the last phase, which incidentally
cuts down on accidental truncation, culuminative[1] rounding, and other
procedural errors that would provide an incorrect answer. It also forces
rounding at the last stage, providing no opportunity for rounding
earlier in the process, which matches Kromm's Order.
[1] I know this is spelled wrong. However, my spell checker insists this
should actually be spelled Illuminati. I'm worried.
