What you and Rick see as "bashing" I often see as educating others about where to best spend their next upgrade dollars. I think many people who can only afford one screen reader *really* appreciate negative information as well as positive info.
Also, there's always the hope that the company will monitor such lists and decide a certain item needs to be improved because it's drawing so much negative publicity; I think that's often exactly how companies determine their priorities. I'm in a software ITS support and development shop, and I know that is exactly what drives us: not constant compliments on how well people liked the last program we turned out, but how bad program or feature X is, and how it needs immediate attention. What Rick sees as "not allowing such bashing" on his lists, I see as really irritating sensorship, to the point where I think many people have left his lists (according to the private emails I receive). I respect GW for not sensoring their list, even though yes, it results in some posts we just delete and move on from.
