The Axtinguisher was never an upgrade, it was a situational sidegrade at best. The powerjack was already the melee of choice for most pyros, all this update has done is made the Axtinguisher even LESS viable and MORE situational. And now that the sticky launcher is reverted for the time-being, pyro and heavy still get the short end of the stick.
