Why is that common sense? That computer was released well before OS X. FlowerPower
iMac's were not shipped with OS X. She bought it knowingly with OS 9. Apple was
not touting OS X as a reason to buy a FlowerPower iMac. And as Jeremy and I have both
already stated the utility program that comes with AppleCare is Tech Tool Pro by
Micromat. So what was Apple to do? FORCE Micromat to release a completely rewritten
util prog that would run on OS X just because some users were too lazy (not
intended as a jab at you Sarah) to boot their Mac into 9 to use it? If you think
along that line then you probably feel that since you bought Photoshop 6 that Adobe
now "owes" you Photoshop 7 because you chose you upgrade your system to OS X???? Come
on.

I tend to agree with you on your opinion of some of the AppleTech phone support, but
let me give you an example of why I think you should buy Applecare. I bought a
Pismo 400 a couple of years ago. The LCD died at around 14 months. I had Applecare
on it. Apple replaced the LCD and I had the Laptop back in 3 days. Even *I*
bought AppleCare for it. Reason?? The LCD was twice as expensive as the Applecare
policy. If you blow a part on a Mac just the part alone (no troubleshooting or
labor) is likely to be as expensive or more than the AppleCare policy, and there are
alot of people out there that are not so technically inclined. That's all I am
saying. I could have replaced the LCD in 15 minutes, but it wouldn't have been cost
effective.
