This is a relatively common problem, and I too have only seen it with Outlook/OE. It appears to be a problem with Outlook, but I don't believe anyone has actually proven that. It can only occur when people have their messages left on the server.some of our users have been complaining about receiving duplicate e-mails several days/weeks/months after they've been sent. They'll just suddenly get another copy of an e-mail that they got two weeks or two months ago. All the users experiencing this problem have their mail client set to NOT delete e-mails from the server after they've been downloaded. Also, all the users experiencing this that I've asked have been running either outlook or outlook express (although about 90% of our users use one of these two if not web mail).
It occurs when Outlook and IMail get out of sync (Outlook will store information about the last E-mail it received, but somehow either that gets changed or the IDs for the E-mails on the IMail server get changed).
I'm not aware of any resolution, other than to not keep the E-mails stored on the server (which will definitely fix the problem).
