Title: RE: [JAVA3D] is java good for game development?

What I'd like to see is a CONSOLE platform that supports Java3D...

I'm afraid to admit it to a Java-centric list, but I own an  MS Xbox, and I can't help but drool over the eye candy every I fire up Rallisport Challenge or Dead or Alive 3.  It's the first console I've owned since my Atari 2600 (the very first version of it, with Space Invaders and all!), and bought it because it was cheaper than a GEForce 3 card (at the time).

Face it--PC Games are such a limited market compared the console platforms... if one of these platforms (GameCube, PS/2, Xbox), or more specifically an UPCOMING console, could support Java, think of the fun we could have...

Okay, okay, I know we'll NEVER see Java on an Xbox, (thanks to MS's business tactics) but just thinking out loud.  If a PS/2 can run Linux, why couldn't it run Java and Java3D?

It's only platform independent in theory.  Java3D doesn't support the #2
desktop platform (Macintosh) which is a pretty glaring oversight.  If you
really want portability you might be better off using OpenGL and C/C++.
