Then you haven't been listening very well. I'm not terribly suprised, since
you resort to using strawmen when your opinion is challenged.

I don't have any problem with land that is owned by the public being turned
over to the Ute, assuming the can make claim to it. Privately owned land is
a different matter.

So, if you believe that any contract signed by the Federal government is
binding, does that mean the government can sign away all of my rights and
all of my property and everything I will earn into perpetuity? Just how far
can they go with this power? When does my moral obligation end? Does it end
when you want it to end or is it a line in the sand? Can you answer honestly
or will you build more strawmen to attack?

But tell you what....how about you and I appeal to Congress. We offer this
compromise: the Ute are left to fend for themselves, and the southern 1/2 of
the State of Utah be returned to their ownership. Everything south of Provo
should do the trick. The land granted to the US government and the State of
Utah be returned to the Ute, especially the oil rich land presently being
tapped and the coal deposits being mined, and the Government no longer needs
to provide funds for food clothing shelter and fuel, be returned to the
people of the Ute Nation.

Sounds fair....you get less 'indebtedness', the Ute get billions of dollars
of real estate returned to them you sleep more soundly.

Unless, that is, someone talks and lets the Government know that a signed
contract is binding regardless of whether *YOU* were born when it was signed
or not.
Oh....a clue...moral obligation and legal obligation....apples and oranges.

indebtedness.....that is a good one.
