OK, let's be real, then. The reality is that human waste dumped by
pleasure boats is an incalculably small fraction of that dumped by any
large city (anyone thinking that cities don't do this should look up the
meaning - and the frequency of occurrence - of the bland term "Combined
Sewer Overflow".) The "alternative" would be for the politicians to stop
using the specter of us "rich boaters" "destroying the environment". If
they got off that hobby horse, it wouldn't be an issue - for us, for the
Coast Guard, or for anyone else.
Now, if you're saying "let's buy into the idea that politicians have to
be appeased, and the police should have the right to do anything they
want to you", then asking for alternatives is a joke. There wouldn't be
any. I don't believe things have quite reached that point yet.
