Good afternoon everyone. Its Caroline here. Joyce has got in touch with us to ask for a little plug. Joyce is the Chairwoman of the Boston Flower Lovers. She writes, I would like to ask if you would be able to mention a fund raiser that we are doing for Marie Curie Rapid Response, a charity which is close to my heart. We are having a Charity stall in Boston Market on Saturday 13th of September. On the stall we shall be selling a variety of homemade cakes, jams and pickles as well as plants. Thanks Joyce for letting us know and of course if theres any charity event youd like a little plug for, then get in touch and either myself or Peter will try and include it in the Letter.
Music Lovers Ive read that musical tastes and personality types are closely related. Well that figures doesnt it? A study of more than 36,000 people from all over the world has been carried out to find out a bit more about this. So although I thought it all sounded logical that your personality was connected somehow with what music you liked listening to, I had to quickly read down the article to see what my music tastes said about me! Here are the headlines! See if they fit in with what you think about yourself. Blues and jazz lovers They have high self-esteem, are creative, outgoing and at ease. Thats quite a thorough description isnt it? Classical music lovers also have high self-esteem, and are creative, yet introverted, but at ease with themselves. If you like listening to Rap music, then youve got high self-esteem and youre outgoing. Dolly Parton fans, into the country and western scene, are hardworking, but reggae music fans are not hardworking, although they are very crea! tive. I wondered when the list would get down to people, who have low self-esteem and they are people, who like Indie music and heavy metal. The researchers though have expressed surprise at the connections between fans of classical music and heavy metal fans saying that theyre both creative and at ease with themselves, but not outgoing. Have you spotted your music taste in here yet? Further down the list and chart poppers have high self-esteem, are not creative, but work very hard, but are not at ease with themselves. I think looking down this list, the most contented sort of person seems to be the fans of soul music high self-esteem, creative, outgoing, gentle and at ease. Lets put some Stevie Wonder on the CD player then! Memory Loss Forgetting things? Well, meat, fish and milk could help surprisingly. Theres a vitamin in those foods that could help stave off memory loss in old age, according to some research. Older people with a lower than average level of vitamin B12 were more than six times likely to experience brain shrinkage. Oh dear. That doesnt sound good! Some of these studies into this vitamin have shown that two out of five people are deficient in that vitamin and its very common amongst the elderly. I could cope with eating meat, fish and milk. But liver is also a very good source of B12. Not to my taste! And shellfish too are very good for B12. And speaking of food, Ive also read that eleven year olds in England are due to receive a free cookbook under a programme aimed at tackling obesity. Head teachers will be able to order in these books and its all about getting kids interested in food and cookery. It should have all their favourite recipes in like spaghetti bolognese, roast chicken and jacket potatoes. Do you think its a good idea? I certainly used to really like cookery lessons when I was little. What about you? Did you learn how to cook at school or from your parents? If you want to comment on this or anything else, then get in touch [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thats it from me.
