Hello there, welcome to Wednesday’s Levy Letter. Thanks for reading the letter
and thanks for getting in touch with me. I really enjoy hearing from you and
what may have caught your eye.

Many thanks to Daphne in Kings Lynn who emailed me with some health news.
“Apparently drinking camomile tea can possibly help with diabetes. Research on
rats suggests that drinking camomile tea lowers blood sugar levels and can help
prevent complications including blindness, kidney disease and nerve and
circulatory damage in type 2 diabetes.” She also mentioned that “scientists are
also claiming that herbal tea boosts the immune system making it easier to ward
off infections and relieve aches and pains.” Maybe I’ll be trying them out soon!

Yesterday Neil contacted me about reductions for disabled drivers crossing the
Humber Bridge. Well Alan in Grimsby has been in touch to let me know that
“vouchers for free crossing of the bridge, are available only to people who
receive the higher rate of the mobility component of disability living
allowance and who are exempt from paying road tax, and they must use a
specified vehicle, the registration of which is printed on the vouchers.
Vouchers are not available simply to those who have a blue badge.”

Travel

Now do you have a satellite navigation system? Are you getting bored of the
same old voice directing you around? Well I’ve recently recorded my voice for
the sat nav and BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Rod Whiting has also got in on the
act. If you fancy hearing us on your sat nav find out more at
bbc.co.uk/lincolnshire where you can download my voice and Rod’s voice to your
sat nav.

TV

I have been a fan of the new series of ‘Doctor Who’. I think Russell T. Davies
did a fantastic job of reviving the classic TV series and David Tennant was a
fantastic doctor. There have been rumours as to whether or not David will carry
on with the role, but extracts from a forthcoming book suggest that Davies
thinks Russell Tovey, who appeared in Alan Bennett's play ‘The History Boys’,
would fit the role. He also starred in the Christmas special alongside Kylie
Minogue, as Midshipman Frame.

On another TV note, I’ve heard that David Jason will be leaving his role as Det
Insp Jack Frost after 16 years in ‘A Touch Of Frost’. I think he is a brilliant
actor and always enjoy the repeats of ‘Only Fools and Horses’. Hopefully we
will continue seeing him on the small screen.

Books

I’m not sure if you’ve read them but the ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’, by
the late Douglas Adams, is wonderful. The last book was entitled ‘Mostly
Harmless’ and was written by Adams 16 years ago. His widow Jane Belson has
given permission to bring back Arthur Dent in a new book entitled ‘And Another
Thing...’ Children’s author Eoin Colfer, best known for his Artemis Fowl books,
has been commissioned to write a sixth instalment. So there you go. Lots of
culture in today’s Levy Letter!

I hope you enjoyed today’s edition of Levy Letters, and I hope you will join me
for tonight’s Look North.

Take care,

Peter
