Hello there and welcome to the final edition of the Levy Letter for this week.
It’s been a busy week here at Look North and I’m really looking forward to the
weekend!

This weekend is shaping up to be a great weekend of TV. The new series of
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ starts this Saturday. I always try not to get caught up
in it, but every year I end up having a favourite! This year my money is on
swimmer Mark Foster. Last year R&B singer Alesha Dixon was the winner, so maybe
it’s time for one of the boys to be crowned a winner this year.

Another show this Saturday which promises to be a thrilling fantasy drama is a
brand new series called ‘Merlin’. It is a new 13 part fantasy which follows the
life of the young Merlin discovering his hidden power. It also stars former
‘One Foot in the Grave’ star, Richard Wilson. I’ll let you know what I thought
about it next week.

I was also interested to hear that the legendary Hollywood star Bette Davis
will be featured on a new US postage stamp to commemorate the 100th Anniversary
of her birth. The stamp will be worth 42-cents and features a portrait of the
actress as she appeared in the 1950 film ‘All About Eve’. If we had
commemorative stamps in the UK, who would you like to see? Let me know what you
think on [EMAIL PROTECTED]

“Find a penny pick it up, all day long you’ll have good luck.” I’m not sure if
the latter is true but I heard about a teacher from Bristol who was trying to
live on £1 a day and managed to find £117 lying loose on the streets of
Bristol. I think it’s amazing how you don’t realise how much people will drop.
Would you pick money up on the streets of Hull?

I mentioned yesterday that a Ugandan minister is trying to ban mini skirts,
well it seems that the fashion police are out again, but this time in America.
A 17 year old boy was arrested for exposing 4 inches of his boxer shorts and
spent a night in a Florida jail. Luckily a judge decided that the law was
unconstitutional and the teenager walked free.

Now we all know that diet is a big factor in preventing heart disease and it
seems a Scottish hospital is introducing a heart-friendly cooking course to
help cardiac patients. 18 patients have signed up for the course which will
provide a more hands on approach to heart health.

Thank you very much to Grahame Williams who contacted me to let me know that
New Waltham Parish Council have recently commissioned a new war memorial which
has now been installed on the village green. If you would like to see it, it
will be dedicated on Tuesday 23rd September at 6.30pm by the Reverend Ian
Shelton and the service will be attended by the Royal British Legion.

That’s all for this week’s Levy Letter. I hope you will join me for tonight’s
Look North.

Take care,

Peter
