Hello there and welcome to the final edition of the Levy Letter for this week.
I hope you are looking forward to the weekend, I know I certainly am!

I mentioned earlier this week that free tickets were to be given away for free
to young adults as part of a £2.5 government-funded scheme to get young people
interested in the theatre. Well, Sheila got in touch with me and suggested that
“instead of giving free theatre tickets to people who may or may not be
interested for whatever reasons why not give the money to make theatre tickets
cheaper and then a possible choice for everyone.” Thanks for getting in touch
Sheila. If you have anything you would like to comment on please get in touch.

Bonjour!

It is the European Day of Languages today, and I’ve been reading that a recent
survey suggests that half of the adults in the UK have forgotten the languages
they learnt in school. I can understand how this can happen. Unless you use it
everyday it is very easy to forget apart from a few key phrases. However back
in my day there wasn’t a range of languages available, French, Latin and German
if you were lucky. School children now get the opportunity to learn Spanish and
in some cases Arabic and Chinese. Do you still remember any French from your
schooldays? I think all I seem to remember is “où est la barre?”!

Comebacks

Do you have a favourite gameshow? I always thought that the Krypton Factor was
brilliant. It was always a good mix of brain and body challenges. Well, I hear
that it is making a comeback! It will be revived by ITV to come back in 2009.
Gladiators made a really good comeback, so I look forward to seeing how the
producers will revamp it, especially if they use all the latest technology.
Would you be in interested in auditioning for it? Or would you prefer to be a
contestant on different classic show? I know I’ll be looking forward to seeing
it!

Weekend Telly.

As it’s Friday, I thought I would give you a roundup of shows to look out for
this weekend. If you’re a fan of ‘Little Britain’, the show creators Matt Lucas
and David Walliams will be joining Jonathon Ross tonight, and they will be
talking about their new show ‘Little Britain USA’. Phil Daniels danced away
from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ last week. I didn’t think he would be the first to
leave so I do think it really is anyone’s game. Do you have a firm favourite to
win? ‘The X-Factor’ is on again this week but we won’t have the chance to
giggle at funny auditions. This is where it gets serious, it’s time for the
Boot Camp stages. There are a whole new bunch of famous faces acting as mentors
this year. Emma Bunton from the Spice Girls will be assisting Dannii Minogue,
Kimberley Walsh from Girls Aloud will be helping her bandmate Cheryl Cole,
Shane Filan from Westlife will be advising Louis Walsh and 80s pop star Sinitta
will be on hand to help Simon Cowell.
Sunday night will have the penultimate episode of ‘Tess of the D’Urbervilles’.
If you like costume dramas, I’m sure you will have enjoyed watching this Thomas
Hardy classic.

Have a great weekend, I hope you will join me for tonight’s Look North.

Take care,

Peter
