Good afternoon, it’s Peter here with your Levy Letter today. And what should we
say? “White Rabbits!” or “Pinch Punch First of the Month!” The first of October
is here. Yesterday a colleague of mine said there were now just a mere
eighty-four shopping days before Christmas! Doesn’t bear thinking about does
it? I’m certainly not thinking about Christmas present shopping just yet, but I
bet there are a few Levy Letter readers who have already started their
Christmas shopping! I don’t think I could be that organised! But with the worry
of finances this year, I wonder how you are planning on coping this Christmas.
Are you making any different plans to have a more frugal festive period? Are
you shopping earlier in the year to try and find a better bargain or have you
decided not to send Christmas cards this year? Let me know on this one. I’d
love to hear your thoughts on this. It’s the usual email address for this or
anything else on [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Stay At Home Wives

I’ve read that men, who grow up thinking women should stay at home, may be
labelled as old fashioned, but could end up well ahead in the salary stakes!
And this US study actually put a figure on how much more these old fashioned
men may earn compared to the more modern-thinking men and that’s on average
£4,722 a year. That’s quite precise isn’t it? There’s some psychology behind
this apparently. It’s said that men, who tend to be more dominant in their
relationships, might also do this at work too. So there you go.

Sex Education

Here’s a story I’m sure you’ll have a view on and I’d like to hear it! I’ve
read that a sex education booklet has been published for UK schools for six
year olds! It’s asking children to identify what the differences are between
the two sexes, naming of parts of the body, the importance of family and
friends and how to stay safe. As you can imagine, there are some people who
think that six is too young for this sort of pamphlet to be available through
schools and others who think that children should be encouraged to ask
questions from parents and teachers from a young age. What do you reckon to
that one? As always, get in touch on [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Yesterday, I mentioned the story about the horse being banned from the local
pub, because the landlord had just put new carpets down! Here’s a note from
Paul on this one. And no, I don’t think it’s from Paul Hudson! He writes, “Hi
Peter. Your story about Peggy the mare reminded me of a story my mate told me a
while back. It doesn't involve a pub, but it still makes me smile. Quite a few
years ago, my pal delivered bread in the east Hull area. One particularly foul
day he was also collecting the money. At a house down Preston Road, the
customer told him to come in out of the weather. After a few minutes my mate
said to him, "You've got a donkey in your living room." The chap looked puzzled
and replied matter of factly - "Well it’s raining!" Smiling as I type!! Paul”

What a nice way to end the Letter today!

Peter
